Custom Shower Niches
A custom shower niche gives you storage built right into the wall and can become the focal point of a bathroom. We frame, waterproof and tile recessed shower niches across Tampa Bay, lined up with your tile layout so grout lines meet cleanly. We have also built LED-lit niches that glow after dark, with wiring handled by a licensed electrician.
Why a shower niche is worth planning
A recessed niche keeps bottles off the floor and out of the way, and it looks far better than a hanging caddy. It can also be the design feature of the whole shower. Decide how many you want, what height is comfortable, and what each one needs to hold, including tall bottles, before the walls are closed up.
Lining it up with the tile
The best niches look like they were always part of the wall. That means sizing and placing the niche so its edges meet the tile layout, with grout lines that run straight through. A contrasting mosaic on the back wall, like star-pattern stone, turns a simple niche into a focal point. Horizontal niches also work well above a freestanding tub.
Waterproofing and LED-lit niches
A niche is a hole in a waterproofed wall, so it has to be framed, sealed and sloped properly to shed water. An LED-lit niche adds a soft glow that looks great in the dark, especially against textured tile. We build and tile the niche, and a licensed electrician should handle the wiring and confirm the light is rated for a wet area.

Custom Shower Niches questions
How big should a shower niche be?
It depends on your wall and what you will store. Size it around your tile layout, and make sure it fits your tallest bottles.
Where is the best place for a shower niche?
Usually on a wall that is out of the direct spray and at a comfortable reach. An interior wall is typically the best option.
Can you add an LED light to a shower niche?
Yes. We build the niche with the lighting in mind, and a licensed electrician handles the wiring.
