Choosing a countertop for your kitchen

Your countertop works with everything around it. A busy stone usually pairs best with a quiet tile backsplash, while a plain surface leaves room for a bolder pattern. Edge profile, overhang and seam placement all affect the finished look. Countertops are usually measured after base cabinets are set, so they belong early in your schedule.
